Post with 1 note
Because my stepmother’s mother, who resides there, is going through a surgery and she may not pull through.(deep shit) Now, what’s on my mind right now is how in Colimbia, the dead don’t sit around at a morgue and wait until its convienient for the family to bury them. Not even close muchacho. Its more around the lines of, you die, your fixed up, your buried. Its like a Las Vegas drive through wedding, with no divorce. And I was thinking about this in terms of culture. Because, as far as I have seen, family in Columbia is your any and everything. They are close as close gets. And so I see it as when your family member dies; you know right away. And there you are there for them like always. Here in America are we all really that close? Could it be said that the act of waiting any amount of time to bury your dead can be seen as disrespectful? (Exceptions include war and shit but that’s a little out of the ballpark, yo.) And thus e look damn arrogant to the souls of our dearly departed. As, insted of the priority being getting them at rest, it could be said there were wasted times squabbling away at who gets what. I’m not going to say this applies to you, or anyone. Not in particular. And even if you don’t believe in things like spirits. Its the moral. The lack or respect. Perhaps we as a generation not only have to overcome our nullification for things like violence and sex and whatever vulgar strand of dna that is giving us our sense of humor that allows us to forget who we are where we came from and how to be respectful. (Le~Gasp!) Maybe we aught to start filling in those britches. I mean shit, that’s all it takes right? Us? Would it not, also, be said that we could learn from Colimbian tradition? And bury our dead right away, literally dropping whatever we were doing in the most final act of respect? I know I wuld appreciate that more than any expencive ass box one might spend two weeks deciding on. (In all honesty, I’m dead, put my ashes in one of those badass tree bulbs and plant me somewhere with a view. :] but here I go, letting this be about me. Forget that last part. But remember the, the moral? Ha ha ha. Thanks for your time.)
